Tampa Heritage Initiative Unity Garden aims to address & assist with the mounting needs of the minority-dominant neighborhood of Old West Tampa - a U.S. historic district. This community is faced with the critical binary challenge of food insecurity in conjunction with a lack of access to proper nutritional education, and has led to the realization of the need for a community hub that brings people together through the promotion of nutritional awareness, the impact that food has on one’s mental health, educational workshops driven by hands-on gardening practices, and assisted distribution throughout the area.
